Information Gathering

Recon Dog : An Information Gathering Tool

As we know, the first phase of hacking is information gathering and its really very tiring to combine small pieces of puzzle to get the big picture. I was also tired of using different scripts and websites for different purposes so I decided to write my own program for my *coughs* for everyone’s needs.

So ladies, gentlemen and gays… I present you Recon Dog.

python script for infomation gathering

Well Recon Dog is python script which can do a lot of basic tasks related to information gathering. The good thing about Recon Dog is that it doesn’t make direct contact with the target, it relies on some web services instead. So those web services gather all the info and Recon Dog fetches it for you and hence it hides your IP address like a proxy. Now lets skip the boring part and discuss its features and how to run it.

Features

Whois Lookup
DNS Lookup + Cloudflare Detector
Zone Transfer
Port Scan
HTTP Header Grabber
Honeypot Detector
Robots.txt Scanner
Link Grabber
IP Location Finder
Traceroute
